Grienke Grief

There was a recent post in the Washington Post saying getting Cy Young award winner Zack Grienke would be out of the Nats' budget, and the Nats shouldn't worry about the Philles becuase they are getting old and are locked up in big contracts.

Well, that is completely wrong because before the Philles get old - which won't be for another couple years - the Nats need to find a way to beat them. Also, the Nats should not be talking about out of their budget becuase they just gave someone 126K.  When Jayson Werth's contract runs out I will be a junior in high school.

Getting Grienke would be huge. It would be a big help to this rotation. Their argument was they already have Jordan Zimmermann, which I think is stupid.  Zimmermann is not good enough to lead a rotation. The only glitch is that the Nats would only have Greinke for two years but I would trade 2 Grienkes for 10 Jordan Zimmermanns in a heart beat.

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to my blog Waiting for 2012.

I suppose I should start by explaining the name. Well, 2012 is the year that the Nats 2 first round draft picks, Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper, will be in the majors. It's been a soso winter meetings for the Nats, with only getting one player Jayson Werth from the Philles, but the Philles made up for it by getting Cliff Lee.

This year will be another tough year for the Nats - still in search for a first baseman because of Adam Dunn's departure and losing streaky player Josh Willingham. The Nats have things to work on but they made it pretty tough by giving Werth $126 million.

The big problem for the Nats is pitching. They had 2 players that they should have gone after more, but did not: Lee and Zack Grienke who are both now in the National League and Lee is in our division. The Nats don't have a good opening day starter. With their best bet Livo, who pitches in the mid 80s, it might be a tough year. One that will leave us waiting for 2012.
